How CIS-INC Works for Your
Professional Practice

Dear Professional or Bi-Vocational Communicator,

If you’re a full or part-time communications worker, you are invited to join CIS-INC as a Professional member.

In fact, I founded CIS while working as a bi-vocational missionary journalist. So I know what it’s probably like for you to work with one foot planted firmly in two worlds!

Our fellowship began as a group of Christians called of God to work vocationally in the media and communications arts. We organized the Christian Media Fellowship (CMF) to encourage one another. Out of that grew into the many ministries of CIS-INC today.

Some of us also wanted to offer our special skills in support of churches, missions and ministries. This called for working in temporary positions and project assignments – sometimes with co-workers that rarely understood our values or long-term perspectives.

Through the years we informally experimented and helped one another with varying degrees of success. However, in 2008 I formalized this group of members into the Professional Communicators Exchange Network (PCEN) to help meet long-term, vocational needs.

If such an idea interests you, please consider the “pros” and “cons” in this invitation letter and then call me to talk about what you have to offer and your personal needs. (Remember to join CIS first if you’re not a member yet!)

PCEN Membership will help media workers like you have more viable and sustainable careers in Christian ministries and organizations. I have successfully worked with the “five-fold” ministry in churches and missions for over 45 years and so by the grace of God alone, I have the divine wisdom to help you make your Christian media career succeed.

If you freelance as an independent contractor in the media marketplace, or have your own professional business, please explore the benefits of joining the PCEN Talent Team. Maybe this is for you – especially in these difficult financial times.

• SKILLS NEEDED: Right now we have a need for account executives, artists, broadcasters, computer specialists and software engineers, designers, editors, filmmakers, fundraisers, Internet and World Wide Web marketers, journalists, logistics experts, PA’s, photographers, publicists, producers, proof readers, videographers, writers and all kinds of other creative and communications skills. (Young people, we need interns in all these areas too, especially PA’s.)
• HOW IT WORKS: PCEN Talent Team members share projects, services and skills with one another using the PCEN talent bank. A confidential directory of associate members with links to resumes and fees is provided FREE with your acceptance into PCEN Talent Team membership.
• ADDITIONAL SERVICES: The CIS offices provide PCEN Talent Team members with many additional services that can reduce your expenses by providing billing, receipting, scheduling and the other support services you need “at cost basis.” This access to division of labor frees you up to do what God has called you to do best.
• ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE: Right now, I am the part-time chief Account Executive but as we grow, we will soon have more Account Executives or producers who will link you up to work assignments at no charge.
• MUTUAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Remember, you’re not alone with CIS-INC. I am here to watch your back as you watch mine – and as we prayerfully watch all the others who have united with us in the PCEN Talent Team.

Hopefully, you’ll find this an answer to your prayers and a way to serve the Lord with all your heart. Let’s work to be efficient, excellent, Christ honoring and sustainable.
